Traditional food in futuristic surroundings: Mama Tani

Mama Tani Café New Year’s offers new year specials – karak and paratha

Mama Tani Café, Downtown, is perhaps best known for its authentic khameer bread, a round flatbread with humble Bedouin origins with a golden crust, often split open and stuffed with the likes of saffron-flavoured cream, chopped dates, labneh, basil, walnuts or pistachios, cheese and chips Oman, or black olive salad.

First launched in 2013, Mama Tani Café is an authentic Emirati jewel glittering in the heart of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, opposite Vida Hotel.

Now the venue is introducing a paratha and karak special, starting at only AED 29, including The Nutella (Nutella and peanut butter), The Cheese & Honey (kraft cheese & honey), The Egg (Kraft cheese & Egg), The Omani (Chips Oman crisps & Kraft cheese), Plain or Nutella and Cheese.

You can take your bread with qawa (Arabic coffee) or karak tea.

A concept by Omar Al Shamsi and Maitha Al Shamsi, Mama Tani is a beautiful medley of traditional herbs, spices, sweets and savoury treats in a refreshingly contemporary setting, including free WiFi. Whether it’s a casual date, a place to work, or a place for business meetings, Mama Tani is the place to be for Emirati cuisine.

The café is also set to introduce delivery this month via Zomato, Talabat, Deliveroo, Food on Click and Uber Eats.

Originally meaning ‘Second Mother’, Mama Tani encapsulates a home-away-from-home feeling with authentic food, warm interiors and warmer service.
