RECIPES: Three ideas for leftover oats

Clearing out The Great Food Club staples cupboard, we discovered some organic rolled oats and came up with three ideas of how to use them. Here are those ideas, generously shared for you to enjoy.

Rolled Oat Breakfast Squares
1. Take a rectangular plastic storage box and mix 120 ml of milk of your choice with one tablespoon of chia seeds, a tablespoon of maple syrup and 45 grammes of rolled oats.

2. Refridgerate overnight.

3. Serve in squares or by the spoonful in the morning, topped with crunchy peanut butter and banana, or chopped fruit/ berries.

Add a tablespoon of cocoa or cacao at the mixing stage for a chocolate version.

Rolled Oat Crumble Topper

1. Place 35 grammes of wholemeal flour with 35 grammes of oats into a mixing bowl.

2. Add 35 grammes of butter and rub together all the ingredients with your fingertips.

3. Once the mixture looks like crumble, add 20 grammes of caster sugar and mix well.

4. Place mix on top of your favourite fruit mix to use as a crumble.

5. Bake at 190C, 375F, Gas Mark 5 for 20 minutes

Dark Choc Rolled Oat Peanut Clusters

1. Put two tablespoons of peanut butter, two tablespooons of milk and 100 grammes of dark chocolate in a saucepan.

2. Cook over low heat until melted and mixed.

3. Remove from heat and add 75 grammes of rolled oats, a drizzle of honey and a pinch of salt if desired.

4. Scoop the mixture into balls, and place on a baking paper-lined tray.

5. Place in fridge to cool and set.
