Trader Vic’s JBR at Hilton Dubai Jumeirah has sea-facing views, signature food, Tiki cocktails and live music
Now open on the hotel’s first floor, Trader Vic’s Hilton Dubai Jumeirah holds true to the brand’s original 1934 values as a quality restaurant, while appealing to the Instagram generation with its design and vibrant sunset views from the terrace. Of course, the famous cocktails that have become bywords for the brand itself will be celebrated in true Trader Vic’s style — customers can expect plenty of Mai Tais, Tiki Puka Pukas, and JBR’s very own customised tipple.
Stepping into the completely re-designed space, you’ll see canoes from the Taiwanese Orchid Island hanging from the ceiling, tribal masks from Papua New Guinea on the walls, fishing net orbs from Japan hovering above tables, and each and every table is watched over by a hand-carved, one-of-a-kind Tiki statue. There’s even an original painting by the namesake himself, Trader Vic, behind the bar.
The huge restaurant space allows for different types of seating. Semi-private booths by the windows will entice big groups, one-on-one diners can enjoy a raised centre area, and those who want to be close to the music will find a spot in front of the stage. The large outdoor terrace offers a prime view of the Arabian Gulf looking onto The Palm Jumeirah – this will undoubtedly become a sundowners hotspot.
On entering the hotel’s lobby, follow the huge hand-carved wooden Tikis up to the venue. There are a total of 34 Tikis inside, ranging in size, shape and type of wood – each with its own name and backstory from across the Polynesian countries.
As with all Trader Vic’s venues, in the kitchen is a Chinese wood-fired oven which much of the food menu is based around. However, at Trader Vic’s Hilton Dubai Jumeirah the oven is placed on a pedestal – literally! In a glass-walled viewing box offset from the kitchen, customers will be reminded on entry that this is the most food-focused Trader Vic’s in the UAE.
“Trader Vic’s is a world-famous restaurant brand and it’s a pleasure to partner with them again – this is my second time at opening a Trader Vic’s branch in a Hilton hotel. This new venue will be a fantastic addition to the food and beverage outlets that we operate at Hilton Dubai Jumeirah, and we expect it to be very popular with our hotel guests and the local JBR community. I’m looking forward to seeing it open!” said Andreas Searty, Cluster General Manager at Hilton Dubai Jumeirah.
With live music six nights a week and Ladies’ Night on Tuesdays, this Trader Vic’s will not only be the latest addition to the community’s burgeoning food and nightlife scene, but perhaps the new heart of it.
