The Mahal – district in Turkish – is an enticing new restaurant exploring the rich culinary diversity of Turkish cuisine.
Located in Dragon Mart 2, this represents is a new chapter for owner Bora Meral, building upon his previous success in the hospitality sector across Turkey and the USA. The original concept derived from his vision to bring authentic good value Turkish cuisine to the Dubai dining scene. The Mahal is designed to bring the pleasure of Turkish culinary art to the local community.
Bora Meral said: “The concept of Mahal brings a vibrant and contemporary restaurant with traditional Turkish roots to the Dubai dining scene. We want to cater for everyone by offering genuine Turkish cuisine of the highest quality with good value.”
It has a modern interior, with high ceilings creating an open and relaxed dining space. Integrating modern elements with details of history and culture, the design aims to translate traditional Turkish architecture in a contemporary style. Central to the setting is a colossal mirror that creates additional room in the already spacious dining area.
Guests are greeted with a fresh display counter, featuring cuts of meat, freshly made to order. A retail section offers refreshing Turkish tea, Turkish coffee and delights for takeaway.
Notable menu items include kofta with cheese, juicy meatballs with a core of melting cheddar; Çöp Şiş, a tender beef skewer; the all-time classic Iskender doner, one of the most famous meat dishes of northwestern Turkey; and an array of various lamb dishes.
Central to the food offering is a bakery, where the crispiest flat bread, baklava and kunefe are freshly baked.
But the standout dish for instagrammers is probably the skillfully prepared one meter-long Pide, a traditional pastry from the central Anatolia region, available in many variations, including minced meat, cheese or spinach.
