New Downtown dining experience launching soon
US Chef Michael Mina is expanding his 30-strong global restaurant empire with another new opening – here in Dubai. His first foray into the Middle East, Cairo-born Mina is opening a self-monikered Brasserie at the Four Seasons Hotel in Dubai International Financial Centre.
Menu highlights include za’taar salmon and caviar with shallot potato cake, pickled onion and cucumber yogurt; Michael Mina’s tuna tartare with pine nuts, garlic, mint and sesame-habanero oil; beets and burrata with toasted pistachio, quinoa pilaf and buckwheat crouton; phyllo-crusted Dover sole with brown butter-caper sauce; and wood-fired lamb chops.
Mina Brasserie promises a fun, dynamic environment, both elegant yet informal, and sophisticated. The space allows for private dinners and larger groups to graze on sharing plates. An outdoor terrace features trees and plants.
A gleaming, golden bar will feature a collection of classics, with an emphasis on traditional aperitifs and hard-to-find spirits from around the world. Mina Brasserie will celebrate the history of cocktails and preserve the practice of well-made, thoughtful drinks.
An in-depth grape list features special library collections from Burgundy, Bordeaux and California, while the fresh juices will be hand-squeezed and the tinctures, bitters, shrubs and elixirs made in-house.
Designer Martin Brudnizki Design Studio (MBDS) has sought inspiration from the elegance and sophistication of European design, as well as the contemporary personality of Michael Mina and Four Seasons Hotel DIFC.
Entering through the outdoor terrace, a pergola strewn with brass tear-drop pendant lights, verdant planting and free-standing trees gives a sense of privacy and comfort. Timber-slatted table tops with rattan chairs and benches, all upholstered in blue patterned fabric, are accompanied by brass and glass lanterns and wall lights.
Moving through to the main restaurant area, guests will marvel at the glass chandeliers and blue and white flooring. A mixture of banquettes and free-standing seating in blue leather reflects the welcoming feel of the terrace.
Low-level lighting and screens create a cosy, intimate feel. The bar takes centre stage with its hammered antique brass front and calacatta marble top.
A collection of artwork from local artists nods to the history and heritage of brasserie culture and completes the look.
“We are pleased to be able to continue our partnership with Four Seasons Hotel DIFC, and to be working with the talented Martin Brudnizki to open MINA Brasserie,” says Chef Mina. “I’m excited for the beautiful new space and menu, and think we will be able to offer our guests an exciting new experience in DIFC.”
