Sumptuous afternoon feast includes savoury, sweet and vegetarian-friendly options, and a gold-dusted mocktail!
Housed in a lovingly restored villa in Jumeirah 1, glasshouse-inspired Society Café & Lounge is the place to be from breakfast to dinner. The stylish, open plan and airy venue attracts more than its fair share of influential locals and ladies who lunch.
Now you can take advantage of a decadent afternoon tea offer between 2 and 6pm, and this is one you certainly don’t want to miss.
After recently hosting our first Great Food Club Masterclass at this sun-kissed café, we have developed true reverence for the croissants, made in-house with way more patience, skill and love than we could ever muster. Along with the croissants, though, the most beautiful cakes and breads are made in-house too – and afternoon tea is a chance to check out Executive Chef Jarek Wysmyk and his floury-fingered brigade’s masterful patisserie skills.
Drop in after 2pm, and you can indulge in a feast of an afternoon tea – which traditionalists might consider somewhat outré – including mini sweet potato and kale muffins, mini date and pecan pie, and pistachio pavlova with Diplomat cream.
But the purists need not be deterred as classics such as homemade buttermilk scones with clotted cream and berry marmalade, and freshly-made macarons are also available.
Priced at AED 150 per person (including VAT), Society Café & Lounge’s afternoon tea is available daily between 2 and 6 pm, and includes a carafe of homemade lemonade, or the vital tea, featuring exquisite flavours from Tea Forté (premium tea purveyors from the United States) such as blood orange and raspberry nectar. Of course, you can have coffee too, you rebel you.
Also included, and well worth a try, even if only for the Instagram, is a glass of Society Café & Lounge’s signature mocktail – the High Society (sparkling grape infused with blueberry, served with a sprinkle of gold dust),
